CORE COMMUNITIES

I’ve worked across sectors and settings, from government agencies and national nonprofits to small businesses, corporate teams, youth programs, and rural communities. No two groups are the same, but over time I’ve built deep experience in a few key spaces where trust runs strong and the work really sticks.

AMERICORPS & NATIONAL SERVICE

Shannon Symposium.jpg

Jump Start was built on a foundation of National Service. I completed two terms as an AmeriCorps VISTA and later served as Training Officer for the Montana Governor’s Office of Community Service. I’ve held staff roles with Montana Campus Compact, served as Director of Programs for Montana Conservation Corps, and supported the development of Montana’s statewide service plan. I received the AmeriCorps Alumni Local Leadership Award in 2014 and currently serve as the facilitator for the Montana AmeriCorps Alumni group.

I work with AmeriCorps programs and State Service Commissions across the country and bring experience across all streams of service, including VISTA, State and National, and Conservation Corps. I understand this work from direct service through system design, and I bring both credibility and care to every engagement.

NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

I’ve spent more than 20 years working in and alongside nonprofit organizations. I’ve held team, senior, and executive roles, served on boards and advisory councils, and supported dozens of organizations through leadership development, training, and facilitation.

I bring a systems-informed, values-driven approach to this work. I’m fluent in theory of change, logic models, and nonprofit program development, and I help teams connect vision to day-to-day practice. My focus is always on strengthening leadership, building alignment, and supporting work that lasts.

YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT DEVELOPMENT

I’ve worked with youth and emerging adults for more than two decades in schools, camps, service corps, and community-based programs. My approach is shaped by prevention theory, asset development, and positive youth development, grounded in years of direct experience.

I bring high energy, clear structure, and deep respect into youth spaces. Young people don’t need to be impressed. They need to be seen. I design interactive learning environments that build confidence, voice, and real leadership skills.

WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP

I’ve coached, trained, and supported women leaders across sectors through individual coaching, retreats, and leadership programs. My work is informed by academic study in gender and leadership as well as lived experience working with women-focused organizations.

I understand the social constraints, competing expectations, and double standards women often navigate in leadership roles. I create space for clarity, self-trust, and courage, and I support women in leading in ways that are both powerful and sustainable.

CONSERVATION & AGRICULTURE

Much of my curriculum was drafted, tested, and refined in field-based settings while working directly with people doing on-the-ground conservation and land stewardship. My approach is shaped by real experience and designed to hold up under real conditions.

I’ve worked with the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, wilderness foundations, land trusts, grazing coalitions, working ranches, and dude ranches. I understand the grit, pride, and pace of these cultures and know how to build trust where relationships matter most. I meet people where they are and help move the work forward without losing what matters.
